FOTD- Mermaid Waves

Hello Wonderlandians,

I know, I know, I haven't been posting. Give me a minute to orient myself and I will get back on board. I recently started school, and being out of school for almost 2 years, it's taking me some time to re-adjust. However, I am still planning on writing post whenever I get a moment.

I have a FOTD for you today, as these are much easier to write and keep up...so expect quite a few.

A couple of friends and I went to the county fair here where we live. I wasn't sure what I was going to be doing with my makeup, but I did want a tad bit more color. SO I decided to just incorporate the colors of my hair to my eyeshadow look.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Review

Hello Wonderlandians,

First of all let me start out by saying that when I first bought this palette, I did not know how much I would enjoy having it. It comes super handy, I tend to keep mine in my purse :)

On to the review!

Excuse the wear and tear on mine, it does live in my purse:
Naked Basics Palette and inside
I would 100% consider this product an impulse purchase, but one that I actually ended up really loving and enjoying.

On to the review!!!

Alice Points:
-colors are pigmented and neutral
-easy to carry
-good color combinations

Red Queen Points:
-Two of the shades are ridiculously close to my skin color (but they work well to blend so)

That's all I have for today, until next time :)

Why my piercings are a big deal...

Hello Wonderlandians,

It has come to my attention recently (in light of a couple events) that some people see piercings as nothing more than just that a piercing, and to a point I suppose they are...but to me they have come to mean much more than just piercings, they are a part of my identity.

Backstory:
-I am pretty much the worlds biggest scaredy cat when it comes to needle or pain in general. I have been wanting my nose piercing since middle school and it took me about 9 years after that to decide to finally get it, I would work through the pain and through my fear of needles. I finally got it done on October 12th, 2014. Surprisingly I did not cry, although my eyes did water after the piercing was in. I can tell you more about my experience later, if you would like.
-Just recently, yesterday in fact, I took out my stud to try and put a hoop in. Well it didn't go as smoothly as I would have hoped and I couldn't get the hoop in. So I tried putting my original stud back in (L-shaped), but couldn't get that to go through either. I tried several times to get it in and it kind of turned into a bloody mess (sorry tmi) I finally gave up and iced my pierced area for it had become very sore at this point. I tried again later thinking the swelling had gone down, but to know avail. I sit here writing this without my nose piercing.
-I am very easily attached to things and when I set my mind to do something, I more often than not do said thing. Even if it may take me a while to actually do it. Like I mentioned above, it took me 9 years to finally get my nose pierced and I am abundantly bummed about my situation currently.

My Point:
-In my recent events, I have been told I am overreacting (which I admit I am guilty of), but this is a huge deal for me. The prospects of either a.)having to try and shove my piercing back in or b.) getting it re-pierced are daunting and to be perfectly honest nerve-wrecking. It took me years to mentally build the nerve to do it and now it might potentially be gone, yes, I am upset. No, I will not just get over it, and I will most definitely be sad. Good day to you sir/ma'am!

I'm mostly venting and I apologize, until next time!

July Random Favorites

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have for you another random favorites :)

TV Shows

  1. Dragons - Race to the Edge: I absolutely love the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. I have a cat named Toothless for heaven's sake. When I saw this was coming to Netflix, you can bet the launch date was on my planner <3
  2. Friends: I know this show is an older one, but one of my best friends LOVES this show and we started watching it together and I am hooked. The characters are great and I'm quite enjoying watching Friends with a friend :)
Music
  1. Kat Dahlia: I don't really know how I came around to first hearing of her, but her song Gangsta, for whatever reason, is one of my favorite songs or at least I listen to it a lot. I like the raspy nature of her voice and her rhythm.
  2. Melanie Martinez: One day while scrolling past my Facebook feed, I saw this lady's album being sponsored on my page. Her hair is what caught my attention, its half blue and half black. That lead to a spiraling YouTube search of her songs and they were fascinating, enough for me to keep listening.
  3. Zara Larsson: This young lady is only 17 years old, and she is making great music. Her voice kind of reminds me of Rihanna, but just slightly. My friend introduced me to her and I've been enjoying listening to her on our rides home together (we carpool a lot).
Movies
  1. Terminator: This movie was actually really good. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed watching it. I would say if you weren't sure about going to go see it, please do.
  2. Ant-Man: I was a wee bit concerned about this movie and ever so slightly confused as to why they would make this movie before any other superhero movie, but I found myself quite enjoying this movie :D I would recommend going to see it!!!
Books
  1. An Earthly Knight: This month was the month of re-reading. I have read both of these books before. I am a big fan of fantasy writing, more so if it's medieval based and has a strong female character. This book did not disappoint. I liked the story line and the book kept me engaged.
  2. Heart's Blood: The author of this novel has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I have read most of her books and I look forward to reading the rest. The characters are so well developed in her books and you literally take them under your wing. I loved this book!
Snacks
  1. Cucumber w/ Lime & Tajin: This may be slightly weird for some of you, but I grew up putting this stuff on everything. Cucumbers just happen to be a personal favorite. I'm pretty bad about drinking water, so I at least try to eat water based fruits to get some hydration.
YouTuber
  1. Biohazerdous Beauty: I've always had an attraction to darker makeup and styles. I found this YouTube channel fairly recently, but I am obsessed. She does Sample Saturdays and I have been binge watching for the last month. Makeup skills are flawless :)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have another review for you :) Today I will be talking about one of my favorite, if not my favorite, foundation to use. It has medium coverage and can be built up for more coverage. I have fairly good skin (although it gets a little hectic in the summer), although I do get the occasional stress or hormone induced breakouts. Currently I have some stress related breakout (yay T-T).

I use the shade 3.0 during Summer and I'm not quite sure what shade I would be in Winter...maybe two shades lighter? I will update you on my Winter shade when I get it...

=

I've used two methods for applying this foundation:

  1. Buffing Brush from Real Techniques
  2. Forever 21 Blending Sponge
Both methods work great and I'm sure using your fingers would be effective as well. I personally don't like getting foundation on my hands.

Alice Points:
-medium coverage, a plus for me I prefer a more natural finish in the summer
-last a good amount of time
-blends easily

Red Queen Points:
-can oxidize, but if you set it with a powder you are good to go!

That's all I have for now and until next time!

Yours Truly,

Abstract Alice
