Lime Crime Haul No.1

Hello Wonderlandians!

I am very excited to share this haul with you! I am by no means trying to brag, although in my excitement it may come of as such.... I will not be going into a lot more of the nitty gritty in this post and you can find a list of the items purchased in the beginning of my post.

Here is what I got from Lime Crime during their Black Wednesday deal (yes Wednesday):

  • Eyes:
    • Eyeshadow Helper Waterproof Primer
    • Glitter Helper
    • Zodiac Glitter:
      • Aquarius
      • Pisces
      • Scorpio
  • Lips:
    • Velvetines
      • Red Velvet
      • Utopia
      • Black Velvet
      • Wicked
      • Pansy
      • Cashmere
Let me start by saying that this is literally what I have been waiting for all year \(^_^)/ I absolutely love Lime Crime! I love their packaging and their pigmentation is amazing <3 <3 <3

Let me address that I am aware of the scandal behind Lime Crime as well, but it took place waaaay before I started buying their product and no longer offer the loose pigments in question. I have only ever bought the lipsticks anyhow, well until now. Now I also have the glitters :) I would like to think that they have worked on this issue and have come forward since then.

I have to say that Lime Crime has become my favorite makeup brand and while they did go up in price, since I first bought them, I will definitely keep coming for more.

They have no limitations on colors and offer a wide variety that, I think, would suit anyone. Until next time ^^

p.s. let me know if you would like a post about my Lime Crime Collection ;)

Loving My Lips~ Great Pink Planet

Hello Wonderlandians,

I thought I would start a new segment here on my blog to give me something to 'keep track' of this blog. If i don't have a set schedule for things I tend to throw them in the back burner. Lip products are what make up the majority of my makeup collections, so I thought this would make a good segment. It is also a product I know i will forever continue purchasing no matter how many I have (I can own up to my lip insanity).

Now that I have explained why I would like to do this segment, let me tell you how it works. I will place the name of the lipstick above in the Post Name. In the actual post I will tell you the brand, finish, color (picture), buy it or leave it, where to find it, and other tid bits thrown in.

Here we go!
Brand: Lime Crime
Finish: Creamy
Price: $18
www.limecrimemakeup.com
You can only find these online or at events such as IMATS, etc.
Buy it or Leave it: I have to be perfectly honest with you... I'm a little biased when it comes to Lime Crime lipsticks, but I will try and be as honest as possible... This is a lipstick that I bought because I wanted to add on to my Lime Crime collection, however I actually really enjoy this lipstick and its one of my most used lipsticks from Lime Crime. I get great use out of this lipstick in the Spring time. I also occasionally wear it just when I feel like it (like today). So I would recommend buying it, but if you need more info to decide, keep on reading!

Alice Points:
-Super pigmented! You will get color payoff with this lipstick.
-Pretty durable, it can last through a meal if you're careful.
-Not drying, actually pretty moisturizing!

Red Queen Points:
-While this color is gorgeous, I actually use it a lot more now that I  have blonde hair. I just didnt think it         suited me when I had darker hair at times... (not that it kept me from wearing it haha)
-You want to have just exfoliated your lips when using this (and most Lime Crime lipsticks/velvetines)
-Ever so slight feathering

Hope you enjoy this new series and until next time!

Hairspiration No.1~ Hair Dreams

Hello Wonderlandians,

I just wanted to share some of my hair inspiration with you. For long time I have been in love with the idea of having colored hair, and at times I have managed to insert a little bit of that in my life.

However due to whatever reason, I have not committed to actually having colored hair. By colored hair I mean colors such as: purple, green, blue, teal, and you know those fun kooky colors. I've reached a point in my life where I no longer want to feel restricted into not being able to express myself due to family, school ,work, or whatever reason. So I will be documenting my hair coloring progress on this blog through a new series I would like to call Hairspiration! Hence the title of this post.

Technically speaking this should be Hairspiration No. 3, but I decided to just leave the last couple hair posts as they are. You can find them here:

Hair Update

Hair Transformation~ Purple

What have I done now?

As you can see I have been wanting purple locks for quite some time now, but haven't fully committed. I swear everyone has purple hair, but me.

Here are purple haired wonders that I have been taking some hairspiration from :)

Hope you enjoyed this colorful post and until next time!

Drugstore Haul No. 2

Hello Wonderlandians,

As you may have now read from the last post, I broke my no makeup buying New Years resolution... Well I've been on a makeup shopping spree as of late (sorry not sorry). It also doesn't help that all the holiday sets and deals are coming out, so I ended up buying quite a few things...I may also be in Target way too often (I have friends who work there). These items were bought in both Target and Walmart.

Here is what I got from Target:

  • ELF
    • Daily Brush Cleaner
    • Small Stipple Brush
  • Rimmel
    • Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
  • Maybelline
    • 14 Hour Lipstick in Wine and Forever
  • Nyx
    • Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Here is what I got from Walmart:
  • Real Techniques
    • Flawless Face Core Collection 2.0
  • Milani
    • Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow:
      • 16 Bella Champaign
      • 18 Bella Emerald
      • 26 Bella Rouge
      • 12 Bella Black
      • 09 Bella Navy
      • 15 Bella Purple
      • 24 Bella Bronze
Also pictured above are Rudolph Band-aids because why not haha

Some of these items were repurchases like the Stay Matte Powder and the Jumbo Eye Pencil. Most were products that I kept hearing about either from friends or online. If I'm being honest with you guys a lot were impulse purchases as well (I can't be trusted in the makeup aisle #^^#).

As I play with these products more I will let you know more about them. I have been very slacking in the world of blogging for much too long... Until next time!

Target Haul ~Emergency Makeup!

Hello Wonderlandians,

Yesterday I was wearing a pretty heavy eye look which included red, white, and black. I didn't photograph the look as I wasn't entirely keen on it...however I made the on the spot decision of getting my eyebrows threaded...well as you may already have guessed my makeup was not so pretty after that. My New Year resolution this year was to not purchase makeup this year (a true feat for a makeup junkie, such as myself), well all that went out the window yesterday.

I was scheduled to have a meeting for work so I needed to tidy up my face quickly. I went into my local Target and picked up a couple things....

What I bought:
  • Maybelline BB Cream
  • Nyx Matte Lipstick
  • Elf Liquid Eyeliner (felt tip)
  • Elf (Contour Kit)
  • L'Oreal Butterfly Effect Mascara
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes
I wiped of everything with the makeup removing wipes, which worked marvelously! I then proceeded to do my entire makeup look. It ended up having a very retro vibe, what with feline-esque wing and red matte lips. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the products.

My favorite pick from this little spurge, the L'Oreal Butterfly Effect Mascara!!!! Oh my! My looked so long and it even helped with curling (I didn't have an eyelash curler on hand). Absolutely love this product <3 <3 <3

Hope you enjoyed this short post! Until next time :)

Halloween Look No.3~ Sugar Skull #2

Hello Wonderlandians,

This year I opted to go for the Sugar Skull look on Halloween. I did debate doing your standard kitty-cat, but decided to throw in a little more effort. Here are some pictures of the makeup look.

The first couple pictures were of me whilst at a Halloween party, I did both my sister's makeup and my own:

The whole process took about an hour, my sister's taking the longest, due to lack of familiarity with her face. I can place makeup on my face with ease, working on someone else's face is another story haha...

Here is my sugar skull makeup look on this day of all Hallows Eve:

Sorry about not including a tutorial, I do have a tutorial up from last years attempt at doing a sugar skull.

Happy Halloween!

What have I done now?!

Hello Wonderlandians,

In light of my recent adventures trying to go purple and whatnot, I have decided to bleach my hair and try again fully invested this time around. I must say this is definitely daring on my part, while I am very excited about the prospects of purple hair (very excite), the thought of going a lighter color is daunting. I've only ever had dark hair, where my natural blonde streak peeks out and provides contrast.

Here is my adventure thus far:
This is after initial bleaching first time go. As you can see my hair was more of a copper tone blonde. Very close in color to Anna from Frozen.
I absolutely loved this hair color!!! As this wasn't my final goal I had to leave this color behind to go into a more actual blonde color :)

Here is my hair after the second bleaching (I also got my nose pierced ^_^), very BAM blonde. Well at least for me it certainly is.... I still have moments where I do a double take when I pass any mirrors...eeps xD

After giving my hair a short (very short) break I have also added some purple ends to it. Hardly visible in the picture above, but I will post again once I redo them :)

That's all for now, until next time!!

To Read or Not to Read...

Hello Wonderlandians!

Today I will be sharing with you some of the books I have read in the last couple months (I've been slacking). In all honesty most of the books I've read recently have been due to their movie counterparts coming out. I have to read a book before watching the movie...I just have to...am I alone in this? Probably not..haha...anywho here are the books:

  1. Divergent
    • Alice Points:
      • I thought it started kind of weak, but as I read more it got better and better
      • Could not put it down
      • Great read highly recommend
      • 8/10 tarts
    • Red Queen Points:
      • The style of writing seemed overly simplified, was not challenged...
  2. Fault in our Stars
    • Alice Points:
      • Invoked all sorts of emotions
      • Could not out it down (literally read it in one day)
      • Great writing style
      • 9/10 tarts
    • Red Queen Points:
      • I honestly don't have anything....
  3. If I Stay
    • Alice Points:
      • Great book momentum I thought
      • New perspective and engaging
      • I really enjoyed this book
      • 8/10 tarts
    • Red Queen Points:
      • Some of the plot could be confusing if you weren't paying close attention
  4. 50 Shades of Grey
    • Mad Hatter Points:
      • I honestly can't decide whether I liked this book or not....I will say read at your own discretion...hahaha
Hope this has helped pick out some books to read, although I jumped in kind of late on some of these...I feel like I may be one of the last people to have read these books...oops...

Yours Truly.

Modern Snow White~ Casual

Hello my Wonderlandians!

Quite a few months ago now I had promised to post this look, but a whirlwind of life events took place and I am only now getting around to writing an actual post about it. Sorry for the wait, but I hope you enjoy my simple take on Snow White. My goal was to make it into a very easy every day look. Today I will be showing you how to achieve this very pretty, but simple Snow White look:

What I used:
  • Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
  • Holika Holika- Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream #2
  • Holika Holika- Full Moisture Lipstick in Kissing Red
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 09
  • MAC- Liquid Liner in Black
  • Maybelline- The Colossal Volume Express Mascara
  • Urban Decay- Naked palette (Virgin and Half-Baked)
  • Falsies- I do not know the name on the case has rubbed off....
These are the things I used, but please substitute any thing for something you have at home. Any red lipstick or even red lipgloss will work all that matters is the intensity you would like to have for the look.

First thing you want to do is apply your foundation, or in my case BB cream.

Eyes: First use any eyeshadow primer you have and prime your eyes. Then add your base color, I used Virgin from the Naked palette. Put the base color all over the lid, inner corner, and brown bone. This will allow you to blend out the second color very easily. Then take a medium brown/copper color, in my case i used half-baked from the Naked palette, and  focus the color on the outer half and crease. Blend until preferred intensity or softness is achieved. Add a slight cat wing for definition. Leave like that and add mascara for a very subtle look or add some falsies to add the drama. I opted for falsies....

Lips: I went for a slightly toned down red in the picture above and a slightly more intense red in the picture below....depending on your preference choose the lip look that works for you!

Go forth and channel your inner Snow White!! Until the next post!

Falling for Autumn

Hello Wonderlandians,

I just had to take a moment and express my deep appreciation and love for Autumn! Let's begin by mentioning that 90% of my wardrobe is Autumn/winter appropriate, so I will finally be expanding my clothing choice. No longer will I be wearing my Disney tanks 24/7 (not that I really minded). I love dressing in layers and lets not even get started on boots....oh be still my beating heart....

This being mostly a beauty page we cannot forget about the makeup and beauty products!

Top 5 Autumn Beauty Do's that I live for:

  1. Bring back the Dark Hues!!! I'm talking lips, eyes, and everything else. (not that spring or summer stops me, they just seem more appropriate in fall/winter time)
  2. Moisturizer- this is a must for me in Autumn/Winter. I have typically really oily skin, but come winter and that goes bye bye. Which would normally be a good thing, except my skin gets too dry and it makes any foundation look cakey (not sure if I'm the only one with this problem or not)
  3. Dark nails <3
  4. Prime piercing/tattoo weather! Most piercing/tattoo places recommend that you wait until the colder seasons to get anything done, because then you won't be swimming in germ infested pools and you are less likely to get an infection. You also sweat a lot less in colder weather so it wouldn't irritate the piercing and/ or tattoo...
  5. Change! The best thing about Autumn is the gorgeous transformation everything goes through! From the leaves to the sky, everything is changing and I love that! It inspires me to try new things and make some changes. I hope it encourages to do the same <3
AHHH!!! I just cannot express enough my love of Autumn!

Side note: Which do you prefer saying? Autumn or Fall? You can probably guess mine haha....

Well that's all for now! Keep an eye out for more posts :)

Without further ado! Let's kick this thing back up by sharing what some of my go to summer lipstick shades have been. • Great Pink Planet
    • Geradium
    • Retrofuturist

L-R: Coquette, My Beautiful Rocket, Centrifuchsia

Swatches of the mentioned faves
Hope you enjoyed my summer favorites and I look forward to showing you my fall faves! Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons!!! I am beyond ecstatic, especially living here in the Sacramento region where it can reach 100 degrees. Goodbye yucky summer heat, hello winter wonderland!

Hair Transformation ~ Purple!

Hello Wonderlandians,

I know I haven't been posting regularly...and although I have moved out I really have no excuse for not maintaining this blog...

As of a while ago I decided I want to dye my hair purple!!! Some of you may know, based on a past blog post, that I am currently sporting an ombré look.

When I decided to go purple it didn't go well the 1st time...here is a picture:
The bits where my hair was most damaged didn't pick up the color and turned a grey purple color...not the best turn out, but oh well

The 2nd time I dyed it I used the same brand, but I had by this point cut off some of the worst bits of hair. However, the color hardly picked up at all and I'm not entirely sure as to why...but here is a picture of what that looked like:
As you can see barely any traces of purple it went more of a very washed out burgandy color....

They say 3rd times the charm and I must agree for my third attempt I opted to use a different dye and it worked marvelously!!! Here is a picture of that:

That is my hair life in a nutshell!! Until next time!

Sincerely,

Abstract Alice

March 2014 Empties!

Hello Wonderlandians!!

I will be sharing some of the products I have managed to use up in March. I know it's not really the end of March yet, but I am ready for this post!!

As you may know from one of my previous post I have done the ombré thing to my hair. With this knowledge alone you will hopefully understand why most of my products I finished are hair based. Some of these products came from the Ipsy bag and had been with me for a while before being completely obliterated the month of March!
A list of the items:
-BigSexyHair
-Bare Minerals
-Got2Be
-Urban Decay
-Herbal Essence
-Nourish Organic Face Lotion

Alice Points:
-Healthy Sexy Hair soy renewal I absolutely loved this! It makes your hair feel 10 times better and it has a very fresh scent
-BareMinerals face moisturizer I loved this product in Alaska because my face was unbearably dry there!
-Urban Decay all nighter setting spray is so refreshing and feels nice on your skin! It also of course lets your makeup stay put longer which is a life saver for someone with oily skin
-The organic face lotion was nice to it smelled glorious and left your face nicely moisturizer. I really liked tat it wouldn't make your skin feel greasy, it would sink into your skin almost instantaneously

Red Queen Points:
-Got 2 be dry shampoo worked all right, but it's definitely not a favorite. I wouldn't repurchase this item, personally.
-I also didn't enjoy the Bog Sexy Hair texturizing powder it made my hair feel really gross and like it hadn't been washed in ages!

That's it for this post until next time!

The Joy that is Pentatonix!

Hello Wonderlandians,

Today I will be talking about one of my favorite acapella groups. They started of on the Sing Off and as of late they have been doing really really well, which is great news! If you have yet to hear this group, I highly recommend you do so.

PTX, as their name is often shortened to, has released 3 albums now. I own all 3 and they were a really good investment. I had the pleasure of seeing them live at their Oakland performance at the Fox Theater!

They were amazing! They not only carried themselves really well throughout the performance, but if you keep tabs on them on YouTube their personalities came through as well, which is a big plus because they have some of the most excellent personalities.

They began the show by singing their Daft Punk Medley which you can listen to here:
This, I thought, was an excellent song to open with! It showcases every one of their talents. The song I was most excited to hear was Run to You. It is such a beautiful song and it is so different than anything they have done before. If you haven't heard that here is a link to that:
Not sure how it was even possible, but it was even better live. You could hear their voices a lot clearer and just wow.

On another seemingly random, but related note. Hats off to Kirstin and Mitch! Kirstin I feel sometimes gets swallowed in their music, but hearing her in the live performance she has a strong powerful voice that is a force to be reckoned with! As for Mitch, holy high notes!! I knew Mitch had range, but it was staggeringly more amazing live. This goes for all the Pentatonix members they were definitely on point with their performances!

Here are some pictures from the concert!

Enough of my ramblings and until next time!

Hair Update!

Hello Wonderlandians!

If you follow me on Instagram you will have noticed that my hair has recently undergone a couple changes.

My Experience:
I have to say although I do love the color my hair turned out, I am not at all pleased at the condition it was left in... I have some very fried bits of hair now...boo, however I went in knowing this would most likely be the case considering how damaged my hair came back from Alaska, thank you for having no moisture -_-; The lady who did my hair wasn't at all confident in what she was doing so I was very hesitant and nervous the whole time, if anything I tried making her feel better. Overall an okay experience.

The Outcome:

Like I stated above I love the color :D

Aftercare:
My hair will be needing some much needed deep conditioning. A lot of hair repair and love! Here is a list of my hair care products:

-Coconut Oil
-Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Leave in Conditioner
-Dove Dry Shampoo
-Keratin Infused Conditioner

That's all for today's post until next time!!

Winter Blues Make-Up Tutorial

Hello Wonderlandians!

If you saw my last post you may have seen this look all ready, but here is the tutorial to achieve this look. Hope you enjoy and if you decide to try the look out please use the #abstractalice to show me on Instagram or Twitter.

Now on to the tutorial!

Products used:
  • Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in Light
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent 001
  • Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar
  • Lime Crime's Eyeshadow Helper
  • BH Cosmetics 1st Edition 120 palette
  • Love &Beauty Cream Cheek Blush
  • EOS Lipbalm
  • Lime Crime's lipstick in Coquette
  • Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya
  • Nyx Super Skinny Eye Marker
To begin with I already have foundation on. To see what I use for my foundation check out My Drugstore Foundation Routine. Now on to the tutorial:
The first thing I did was fill in my eyebrows. I wanted a bold eyebrow look for this look so I decided to use a shade darker than i would normally.

A picture of the palette I used for this look. Eyeshadow from BH Cosmetics 120 palette 1st edition.

You start of by priming your eyes. I used Lime Crime's Eyeshadow Helper to prime my lids and under my eyes. Place primer in all areas where eyeshadow will be placed.
In order to brighten up my eyes and and make the lightest color stand out I used Nyx's Jumbo Pencil in Milk to put in my inner corner. I then blended it out using my fingers.
I then took the 1st color, which was a very light sea green color.
I placed that in my inner corner and filled in about a third of my eye using that color.
I then took a 2nd color a light blue and placed that in the center of my lid and blended it into the 1st color.
It should more or less look something like this.
The last color I used was a dark blue, with a bit of black to make it slightly darker, and placed that on the outer third of my eye using a v shape.
It looks like a very harsh cat eye before blending, like so.
You want to blend until you like it or until there are no harsh lines and all your colors are nicely blended.
Take the three colors and create the same gradient effect under your eye. I suggest starting with the lightest color.
This is how the eye makeup looks all blended and carried to underneath the eye.

I then used a white shimmery color to highlight my brow bone and to put in my inner corners.
This is what that looks like done :)
I forgot to take a picture during this last step for the eyes, but I decided to add on a pretty thick cat eye to make the look pop even more!
I then took an orange peachy color I had and put that on my cheeks. For my lips I mixed Lime Crime's Lipstick in Coquette with Revlon's Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya.
TADAH! This is the completed look!

Note: I completely failed to acknowledge my eyelashes. Oops! In order to complete this look curl your lashes, if needed, and add your favorite mascara! If you want something a bit more dramatic add on your favorite falsies!

Close up of the eyes

You can see the eyeliner in this picture!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! This is the first 'official' tutorial I have put up on my blog. I can't say it's the best, but it is a learning process and i hope they get better over time. Until next time!

Abstract Alice
