Hairspiration No.6~ Hair Timeline/Story

Hello Wonderlandians,

I will be going a new color this weekend in anticipation for the holiday festivities. If all goes well I will be posting pictures on my Instagram about my new hair color. As I am terrible at keeping people updated on here about my hair color. I am going to be doing a mini timeline for my hair in this post.

And away we go:

February 2014

-Ombre

September 2014

-purple dye (Beyond the Zone Color Jamz Purple Passion)

October 2014

- bleached my hair for the first time!
- bleached hair again to achieve lighter blonde

-added in purple tips to my hair (Purple Ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Color)

November 2014

- re-bleached hair to get purple ends out.

-toned my hair to try and get rid of brassiness and go ash blonde (Blond Brilliance in Platinum)

February 2015

-colored hair purple (Purple Rain by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

April 2015

-bleached hair again to get rid of purple dye (boo interviews ;_;)

May 2015

-dyed my hair blue <3 (Poseidon and Aquamarine by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

July 2015

-bleach/shampoo on hair to get rid of remnant blue (it had faded out quite a bit by now)
-dyed hair pink! (Wrath by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

August 2015

-dyed hair pink again! (Virgin Pink by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

-dyed my hair 3 shades (Phantom Green, Poseidon, Purple Rain, Arctic Mist by Arctic Fox Hair Dyes)

-Note: the dyes aren't lasting as long, because I am washing my hair a lot more frequently...I can't stand being hot and in the Central Valley it gets pretty hot. That means more showers on my part. Also I have started growing out my hair to get a fresh bleaching done on my hair once it grows out again.

September 2015

-dyed my hair green (Phantom Green by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

October 2015

-used Fix Color to try and get green out of my hair, since I wanted to dye my hair red or

-dyed my hair blue again, more of a teal blue since I had green in previously (Aquamarine by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

November 2015

-dyed my hair purple again :) (Purple Rain by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

December 2015

-used Fix Color to get purple dye out of my hair, then toned it grey with Wella Color Charm Additive in Cooling Violet, then washed that out and used Silver by Overtone.

You can't tell too much in this last picture, but my roots have grown in a lot and anytime I have my hair in a bun or ponytail people ask me if I have dyed it back to my original hair color and I just turn around and show them my still very much not natural hair color.

If you have any questions about my hair journey, please feel free to ask. I am not a hair stylist and cannot give you professional advice, but I can tell you what my own experiences were.

That's all for now and until next time!

Top 5 Palettes for Beginners

Hello Wonderlandians,

Recently I was asked by a friend which palette I would recommend for makeup newbies...and I must say that it was really hard to answer this question. I have quite a few palettes and I love them all dearly...well most of them anyway. In this post I will tell you which palettes I believe will be best for beginners.

Here we go!

Palettes I currently own:
  • Urban Decay's Naked 3
  • Urban Decay's Vice 3
  • Urban Decay's Naked Basics
  • BH Cosmetics' 1st Edition
  • BH Cosmetics' 3rd Edition
  • BH Cosmetics' Day to Night
  • Lime Crime's Venus
  • Lime Crime's Venus II
  • Too Faced's Joy to the Girl
  • Too Faced's Return of Sexy
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage
  • Disney Cinderella Ready for the Ball Look Book
Top 5 recommended for beginners:
  1. Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage- I would highly recommend this for anyone who is just beginning playing with makeup. The palette itself is inexpensive and the pigmentation is great for this palette. They are also mostly neutral colors for everyday wear. You have a good mix of shimmer, matte, and kind of metallic/foil.
  2. Urban Decay Naked Basic- I would also recommend this palette to beginners. The colors are easy to work with and you can create a multitude of 'natural' looks with this small palette. If you were wanting to splurge a little I would recommend this palette. I usually carry this around with me for everyday looks, because it is small it is easy to travel with. You get all mattes in this palette and one shimmery color.
  3. BH Cosmetics Day to Night- This palette has a good mix of day to night wearable eyeshadows, and it also provides some pop of color. This is a great palette for someone who is just beginning, because it gives you a range to choose from without feeling overbearing. They did a great job of giving you colors that work well with each other. They also included some bright colors in there for you to play with.
  4. BH Cosmetics 120 Palette (1st Edition)- This one is a tad different than the two I already mentioned. I am recommending this one who is wanting to play with colors and more bolder looks. This palette is inexpensive (especially if you manage to get it on sale). It comes with various tones of all different colors, most not so neutral. Like I said though, if you are wanting to experiment with color this is your best bet. Keep in mind that this palette has mostly matte eyeshadows. There is a shimmery palette BH Cosmetics does, but I'm not sure which edition that is.
  5. Urban Decay Naked Range- I put this last not because I don't think it will make a good palette for beginners, but because if you are just getting into makeup picking the right naked palette for you can be difficult. I say this from experience. I used to have the Naked palette the 1st one and I loved it. Due to travel it ended up braking on me and I tossed it. I then decided to not repurchase and purchase the Naked 3 instead. I like the Naked 3 palette, but I don't think it is the best on me personally. Despite this I still think these will make great beginner palettes, just be weary when deciding on which one to get.
These are all in my opinion and these are what I would get someone I know who is just beginning to get into makeup. That's all I have to share for now and until next time!

Lime Crime- Venus vs. Venus 2

Hello Wonderlandians,

Today I have the two Venus palettes to compare for you all.

As you can see from the pictures below the covers are similar, but they do differ in color scheme. The Venus I palette being more lights and rosy, while the Venus II palette being grungier and darker.

Here is a picture of the inside of both palettes:

They are both very different from each other. If you wanted to get just one, I would highly recommend the Venus I palette. It is much easier to work with color-wise. They all coincide and are easier to combine to create a look. Although if you enjoy the ever popular grunge look I recommend the Venus II palette. The colors in this palette are perfect for creating grungy style makeup.

Alice Points:
-both palettes are very pigmented
-you can make a multitude of looks with either palette

Red Queen Points:
-Lime Crime scandal..up to you to decide

Mad Hatter Points:
-reds tend to stain my eyelids, but this happens with most red eyeshadow I use

Overall I love them both and I have been using the Venus II palette a lot more than I had originally thought I would be :D That's all for now, until next time!

Lime Crime Haul No.3

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have yet another Lime Crime haul for you. I have no control!!! Someone help me ;_;

Yet again I have fallen victim to my inability to say no to Lime Crime and they;re cute packaging. Yes I know about the scandal, no I cannot seem to stop. To be honest I actually really enjoy their products and therefore keep coming back for more.

Here are the shades swatched on my lips:
Top L-R: Squash, Pumpkin, Trouble Bottom L-R: Jynx, Cement, and Crybaby
Here is what I bought:

Velvetines ($20):

  • Trouble
  • Jynx
  • Cement
  • Pumpkin
  • Squash

Unicorn Lipstick($18):

  • Cry Baby
I end up caving anytime they bring out their new products. I began my makeup collection with Lime Crime and I can't stop my need to own all their shades. I am adventurous in my makeup endeavors, but some of these colors don't suit my hair color momentarily (in my opinion).

Well just wanted to share my guilty pleasure with you all. Until next time!

Something New~ Ultimate Matte Blush Palette

Hello Wonderlandians,

Welcome back to another blog post. Very recently I went to Forever 21 (Haul to come soon) and picked up a couple of their beauty products. One being the blush palette below. They're branding is called love &beauty. I have to say so far I am really impressed, I have a highlighter from their line, which if you've been here long enough know that I love using.

On to the product:
Packaging wasn't bad I thought it was kind of fancy looking, up until you actually open the box, then it loses a bit of that fanciness. That's quite alright with me though, fits in with my mismatch collection I have going.

Here are the colors in the blush palette, and it holds true they are all matte :) They are super pigmented and blend out beautifully on your skin. (I'll be sure to include swatches)

As you can tell from the picture above, I have already started using some of the colors. I've been loving the top pink shade second to last and the bottom last berry shade (which I think I will transition to in the winter).

Hope you enjoyed this post and until next time!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Review

Hello Wonderlandians,

First of all let me start out by saying that when I first bought this palette, I did not know how much I would enjoy having it. It comes super handy, I tend to keep mine in my purse :)

On to the review!

Excuse the wear and tear on mine, it does live in my purse:
Naked Basics Palette and inside
I would 100% consider this product an impulse purchase, but one that I actually ended up really loving and enjoying.

On to the review!!!

Alice Points:
-colors are pigmented and neutral
-easy to carry
-good color combinations

Red Queen Points:
-Two of the shades are ridiculously close to my skin color (but they work well to blend so)

That's all I have for today, until next time :)

Why my piercings are a big deal...

Hello Wonderlandians,

It has come to my attention recently (in light of a couple events) that some people see piercings as nothing more than just that a piercing, and to a point I suppose they are...but to me they have come to mean much more than just piercings, they are a part of my identity.

Backstory:
-I am pretty much the worlds biggest scaredy cat when it comes to needle or pain in general. I have been wanting my nose piercing since middle school and it took me about 9 years after that to decide to finally get it, I would work through the pain and through my fear of needles. I finally got it done on October 12th, 2014. Surprisingly I did not cry, although my eyes did water after the piercing was in. I can tell you more about my experience later, if you would like.
-Just recently, yesterday in fact, I took out my stud to try and put a hoop in. Well it didn't go as smoothly as I would have hoped and I couldn't get the hoop in. So I tried putting my original stud back in (L-shaped), but couldn't get that to go through either. I tried several times to get it in and it kind of turned into a bloody mess (sorry tmi) I finally gave up and iced my pierced area for it had become very sore at this point. I tried again later thinking the swelling had gone down, but to know avail. I sit here writing this without my nose piercing.
-I am very easily attached to things and when I set my mind to do something, I more often than not do said thing. Even if it may take me a while to actually do it. Like I mentioned above, it took me 9 years to finally get my nose pierced and I am abundantly bummed about my situation currently.

My Point:
-In my recent events, I have been told I am overreacting (which I admit I am guilty of), but this is a huge deal for me. The prospects of either a.)having to try and shove my piercing back in or b.) getting it re-pierced are daunting and to be perfectly honest nerve-wrecking. It took me years to mentally build the nerve to do it and now it might potentially be gone, yes, I am upset. No, I will not just get over it, and I will most definitely be sad. Good day to you sir/ma'am!

I'm mostly venting and I apologize, until next time!

July Random Favorites

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have for you another random favorites :)

TV Shows

  1. Dragons - Race to the Edge: I absolutely love the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. I have a cat named Toothless for heaven's sake. When I saw this was coming to Netflix, you can bet the launch date was on my planner <3
  2. Friends: I know this show is an older one, but one of my best friends LOVES this show and we started watching it together and I am hooked. The characters are great and I'm quite enjoying watching Friends with a friend :)
Music
  1. Kat Dahlia: I don't really know how I came around to first hearing of her, but her song Gangsta, for whatever reason, is one of my favorite songs or at least I listen to it a lot. I like the raspy nature of her voice and her rhythm.
  2. Melanie Martinez: One day while scrolling past my Facebook feed, I saw this lady's album being sponsored on my page. Her hair is what caught my attention, its half blue and half black. That lead to a spiraling YouTube search of her songs and they were fascinating, enough for me to keep listening.
  3. Zara Larsson: This young lady is only 17 years old, and she is making great music. Her voice kind of reminds me of Rihanna, but just slightly. My friend introduced me to her and I've been enjoying listening to her on our rides home together (we carpool a lot).
Movies
  1. Terminator: This movie was actually really good. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed watching it. I would say if you weren't sure about going to go see it, please do.
  2. Ant-Man: I was a wee bit concerned about this movie and ever so slightly confused as to why they would make this movie before any other superhero movie, but I found myself quite enjoying this movie :D I would recommend going to see it!!!
Books
  1. An Earthly Knight: This month was the month of re-reading. I have read both of these books before. I am a big fan of fantasy writing, more so if it's medieval based and has a strong female character. This book did not disappoint. I liked the story line and the book kept me engaged.
  2. Heart's Blood: The author of this novel has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I have read most of her books and I look forward to reading the rest. The characters are so well developed in her books and you literally take them under your wing. I loved this book!
Snacks
  1. Cucumber w/ Lime & Tajin: This may be slightly weird for some of you, but I grew up putting this stuff on everything. Cucumbers just happen to be a personal favorite. I'm pretty bad about drinking water, so I at least try to eat water based fruits to get some hydration.
YouTuber
  1. Biohazerdous Beauty: I've always had an attraction to darker makeup and styles. I found this YouTube channel fairly recently, but I am obsessed. She does Sample Saturdays and I have been binge watching for the last month. Makeup skills are flawless :)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have another review for you :) Today I will be talking about one of my favorite, if not my favorite, foundation to use. It has medium coverage and can be built up for more coverage. I have fairly good skin (although it gets a little hectic in the summer), although I do get the occasional stress or hormone induced breakouts. Currently I have some stress related breakout (yay T-T).

I use the shade 3.0 during Summer and I'm not quite sure what shade I would be in Winter...maybe two shades lighter? I will update you on my Winter shade when I get it...

=

I've used two methods for applying this foundation:

  1. Buffing Brush from Real Techniques
  2. Forever 21 Blending Sponge
Both methods work great and I'm sure using your fingers would be effective as well. I personally don't like getting foundation on my hands.

Alice Points:
-medium coverage, a plus for me I prefer a more natural finish in the summer
-last a good amount of time
-blends easily

Red Queen Points:
-can oxidize, but if you set it with a powder you are good to go!

That's all I have for now and until next time!

Velvetine Haul Swatches

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have some swatches of the Velvetines I got in my last Lime Crime Haul. I absolutely love the formulation of these and I'm actually quite excited about some of these colors.

These are Velvetines I ordered in my last haul!
I got 6 shaded in total, completing my Velvetine collection from Lime Crime (for now...). I've already tried most of these on and some have already been swatched/featured on my blog in FOTD posts.

Here are the colors I got:
  • Salem
  • Riot
  • Bleached
  • Shroom
  • Faded
  • Rave
The one I've been wearing most frequently is Riot, but that's mostly because it compliments the Venus Palette so well!!!! <3

L-R: (1st one is Babette) Salem, Riot, Bleached, Shroom, Faded, and Rave
If you guys would like to see individual reviews on these, please let me know! That's all I have for now and until next time!

Hello Wonderlandians,

I am finally getting around to writing all those reviews on products I have been loving and first off we have a mascara, the L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga...isn't that a mouth full @_@

I got this mascara for two reasons:

  1. I didn't own waterproof mascara
  2. The packaging was too cute for me not to get it #noshame

On to the review:

Alice Points:
-does make your lashes voluminous as it claims
-holds a nice curl
-doesn't attack your eyes once it dries (the ever pesky mascara flakes do not happen)
-gives your eyelashes lift

Red Queen Points:
-not the biggest fan of the applicator wand, it's very flimsy
-not easy to clean up if you manage to get some not on your lashes...I'm not sure if this is a common problem with waterproof mascaras however.

Mad Hatter Point:
-sometimes acts weird if paired with other mascaras

8/10 tarts <3

Well that's all I have for now, until next time!

Yours Truly,

Lime Crime Haul No.2

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have a haul for you today. Very recently I went on a little splurge on Lime Crime's website, I tried to resist, but I did not succeed...So now I have some new makeup to share with you :)

As you may or may not be aware I am kind of obsessed with the Lime Crime lips range, I now own all of their lip products. I posted my Lime Crime Collection and it has been updated to include these products.

On to the haul!

They have the cutest packaging I swear <3
What I bought:
  • Venus Palette
  • Unicorn Lipstick- Babette
  • Velvetine-
    • Salem
    • Riot
    • Bleached
    • Shroom
    • Faded
    • Rave
I bought Babette to complete my Unicorn Lipstick collection...

I've been wanting to buy this palette since it first came out, but for whatever reason I wasn't able to do so then...I am beyond happy I got it and it is just as beautiful as I thought it would be *squeals in excitement* A review and swatched will be coming :) That's all for now!

Yours Truly,
