Hairspiration No.10- Blue Locks

Hello Wonderlandians,

Today I have my latest hair color for you! I have gone blue once again :D

I have to say that having blue hair is probably my favorite color so far. In second place would probably be pink, believe it or not.

Here we have Poseidon in action:

I also find there is an increase in hair compliments whenever I have blue in my hair. I get compliments regardless of the color I have, but I notice even more compliments when I have blue hair. I wonder if it just suits me the best <3

I have a couple concerts I will be writing about coming up and I have yet to decide on a title for these posts. I'll try and figure it out before the next one comes and goes.

Hairspiration No.9- Pretty in Pink

Hello Wonderlandians,

I want to attempt and keep you guys more updated on my hair adventures. The last color on my hair was Wrath by Arctic Fox Hair Dye, I am seriously in love with these dyes. I haven't really tried anything else since finding them.

Here is what my hair looked like, when it was actually very faded:

I am very bad at taking pictures when I first put a color in, I will try and remedy that.

The color may look slightly purple in tone and that's because the color I had in prior was purple. I grew a bit impatient as the purple faded and jumped the gun and dyed my hair pink.

My current hair color is a post that will be coming up fairly shortly :)

That's all for now, don't forget to hit that join button to become a Wonderlandian and get notified when  a new post comes out. Until next time!

Hairspiration No.8 ~Wicked Plum

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have done it once again and dyed my hair. This time I decided to give a little color mixing a go. This is what I got as a result:

I am honestly obsessed with my hair color right now and as you can see from the title of this post I have even given the color its own name ;)

I almost own all the Arctic Fox hair dyes with the exception of Neon Moon, Cosmic Sunshine, Transylvania, Iris Green, and Sunset Orange. I do all own other colors and a couple back ups of my favorites.

To achieve this shade I mixed Purple Rain and Wrath.

I can't give you specific measurements, since all I did was mix together what I had left over from each bottle. I can say it was about a equal parts, maybe just a bit more Purple Rain since the bottle had a little more.

This was a fun adventure for me and the results were fantastic, I highly recommend trying it. Please be weary of color combinations and keep to like colors. If you are familiar with color theory at all it will come in handy.

That's all for now and until next time!

Hairspiration No.7~ Vitamin C Fading Method

Hello Wonderlandians,

Recently or somewhat recently I had decided to try out the grey fad color going around. Due to the sheer number of colors  y hair has gone through, this proved to be a rather interesting turn of events.

The Walk Through:

Prior to the going grey, I had purple in my hair which had faded out to this:

I then took some One 'n Only Color Fix and removed the remnant purple, but it didn't lift all of it as it has in the past. I think this was mostly due to visibility on my end, most of the product that stayed was towards the back of my head.

Not noticing this sooner, I went ahead and began to tone my hair grey with the Wella Color Charm Liquid Permanent Hair Color Additive in Cool Violet (#050), which did turn most of the parts that had the color lifted grey. Where the remnant purple was however, went even more purple with a hint of grey...so I added some Overtone Silver dye on top. I tried rocking this funky grey/purple/blue/green color for a bit, but I couldn't do it.

So the next step I took was to wash my hair everyday for about a week and then use the Vitamin C method to fade out my grey mistake.

What You Need:

  • Vitamin C Pills/Tablets
  • Head and Shoulders (or any clarifying shampoo)
  • Dawn Dish Soap (or any dish soap)

The Mixture:

  1. Crush some Vitamin C pills into a powder. Try and make it as finely milled as you can, this will make it easier to apply.
  2. Add in about a teaspoon of dish soap
  3. Add in clarifying shampoo. I added in enough to have enough product for my hair. Which ended up being quite a bit for my long hair.
  4. Mix these 3 things together until you have sort of a foamy product.
  5. Apply to areas you would like to fade the color.

This picture that follows is the before and after of using this mixture on my hair.
It actually lifted quite a bit and I was very happy that my hair didn't feel any more damaged. This was my hair prior to applying a second dose of the Vitamin C mixture to my hair, I mostly concentrated the product on the purple bits with a bit of help from my mother.

I unfortunately did not take a picture after this, but the purple did lift quite a bit more and left it looking closer to a very very faded pink/purple color. Which worked just fine for the color I would be doing next on my hair.

That's all for now and until next time!

Hairspiration No.6~ Hair Timeline/Story

Hello Wonderlandians,

I will be going a new color this weekend in anticipation for the holiday festivities. If all goes well I will be posting pictures on my Instagram about my new hair color. As I am terrible at keeping people updated on here about my hair color. I am going to be doing a mini timeline for my hair in this post.

And away we go:

February 2014

-Ombre

September 2014

-purple dye (Beyond the Zone Color Jamz Purple Passion)

October 2014

- bleached my hair for the first time!
- bleached hair again to achieve lighter blonde

-added in purple tips to my hair (Purple Ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Color)

November 2014

- re-bleached hair to get purple ends out.

-toned my hair to try and get rid of brassiness and go ash blonde (Blond Brilliance in Platinum)

February 2015

-colored hair purple (Purple Rain by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

April 2015

-bleached hair again to get rid of purple dye (boo interviews ;_;)

May 2015

-dyed my hair blue <3 (Poseidon and Aquamarine by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

July 2015

-bleach/shampoo on hair to get rid of remnant blue (it had faded out quite a bit by now)
-dyed hair pink! (Wrath by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

August 2015

-dyed hair pink again! (Virgin Pink by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

-dyed my hair 3 shades (Phantom Green, Poseidon, Purple Rain, Arctic Mist by Arctic Fox Hair Dyes)

-Note: the dyes aren't lasting as long, because I am washing my hair a lot more frequently...I can't stand being hot and in the Central Valley it gets pretty hot. That means more showers on my part. Also I have started growing out my hair to get a fresh bleaching done on my hair once it grows out again.

September 2015

-dyed my hair green (Phantom Green by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

October 2015

-used Fix Color to try and get green out of my hair, since I wanted to dye my hair red or

-dyed my hair blue again, more of a teal blue since I had green in previously (Aquamarine by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

November 2015

-dyed my hair purple again :) (Purple Rain by Arctic Fox Hair Dye)

December 2015

-used Fix Color to get purple dye out of my hair, then toned it grey with Wella Color Charm Additive in Cooling Violet, then washed that out and used Silver by Overtone.

You can't tell too much in this last picture, but my roots have grown in a lot and anytime I have my hair in a bun or ponytail people ask me if I have dyed it back to my original hair color and I just turn around and show them my still very much not natural hair color.

If you have any questions about my hair journey, please feel free to ask. I am not a hair stylist and cannot give you professional advice, but I can tell you what my own experiences were.

That's all for now and until next time!

Hairspiration No.5~ Transitioning from Blue to Pink

Hello Wonderlandians,

I have a hair update for you all! I have let my blue fade out...Here is a picture of what it looked like about 3 weeks ago:

AGWEIUTHu
For now I have once again changed my hair. This time I am a very bright pink haired lady.

The blue you see above and in the pictures to follow are Poseidon and Aquamarine from the brand Arctic Fox. Both colors held up relatively well, but Aquamarine held up a heck of a lot better. To be fair I don't think I was using the appropriate dry shampoo. In my hair endeavors I have searched for a good dry shampoo (post to come) to keep my hair from being washed everyday (which is not good for your hair).

Things to keep in mind if you are going to dye your hair blue:
  • It is one of the harder colors to get out of your hair, when you wish to change it...
  • If you have pretty yellow based blonde hair you will have a green hue to your hair as it fades

I ended up having to do a bleach shampooing to my hair in order to attempt to get rid of the remnant persistent green in my hair. It still did not remove all of the green, but it was significantly lighter. To the point where I thought it would be safe to put a color over it.

The next color I used was Wrath by Arctic Fox. I was a little hesitant to do pink in my hair, but I was actually very pleased!!! I didn't think this particular pink would suit my skin tone, but I was wrong :)

Here is my hair now:

That's all I have for now, until next time!!!

Hairspiration No.4~ Poseidon/Aquamarine Review

Hello Wonderlandians,

As you have already seen from some of my latest post, I am no longer blonde :)

I have jumped into having blue hair and I once again used the Arctic Fox hair dyes. This time I took Poseidon and Aquamarine as the main stars!

This was taken approximately a day after dyeing my hair. At the roots of my hair we used a mixture of Poseidon, Purple Rain and a drop of Violet Dream (accidental, I was trying to put in Purple Rain). Purple Rain was added in to try and darken up Poseidon a bit, it was effective. At the ends of my hair I put in Aquamarine.

Most of the pictures I take/took don't really capture the difference between the two shades, but I assure you there is a definite difference.

This picture I took recently, and I'm almost at 1 month (I have like 3 days to go). Poseidon is fading rather quickly, whilst Aquamarine looks almost as vibrant as the day I put it in. Like I mentioned in my Arctic Fox Hair Dye review, I believe there are other factors to consider. I was trying out a new dry shampoo at the time and I was washing my hair a little more frequently, because of how warm it has been in California.

Sorry for the lack of pictures in this post, I will attempt to take more when I redo the blue for a touch-up. Which should be in a couple days.

Thank you and until next time :)

Hairspiration No.3~ Purple Rain Review

Hello Wonderlandians!

I have been meaning to write up this post forever now. Please excuse the not so fabulous pics haha. These are pictures of the stages of my hair after using the Arctic Fox hair dye in Purple Rain and a little bit of Violet Dreams.

I took this picture the day after dyeing my hair and I actually ended up also washing my hair this day, because I realized I still had some dye clumps in it. Guess I hadn't washed as thoroughly as I thought.

This picture was taken of me probably a day or two after I had just dyed my hair. As you can see it is super vibrant :)
I took this picture 6 days after initially dyeing my hair. I was doing some snowflake inspired makeup for a friend and I snapped a pic for the purpose of this blog post.

I snapped this quick selfie a couple hours before hopping on a plane to go to Seattle for my birthday. This was a week after initially dyeing my hair...now we skip forward a couple weeks, because I forget to take pictures ^^;
This was taken approximately two weeks after dyeing my hair, the lighter bits near the front are what violet dream is fading out to be. Still a vibrant color, but turning more of a pink purple color. I actually loved this stage of my hair :)
This is my hair at 3 1/2 weeks. A friend of mine and I had our hearts set on a cemetery photoshoot and this is one of the resulting pictures. I plan on putting more up in a future blog post. So keep an eye out for those.

This is my hair at 1 month and 2 weeks. I had actually increased my hair washing days to every other day, maybe even once a day. This was due to the warming weather we experience in California. Yay skipping Spring...not! Prior to this I had washed my hair twice a week. The increase in hair washing made the color fade a lot faster, as I expected. The face in this picture was more due to the fact that I had to get rid of my purple hair, while I did interviews and such to get a second job.

Overall my experience with the Arctic Fox hair dyes was fantastic and I've actually ordered the rest of their color line. I hear word that they are coming out with an orange and green shade, which will be added to my collection.

I am back to blonde for now, but rest assured my colored hair adventures are far from over!

Hairspiration No.2~ Hair Transformation

Hello Wonderlandians,

As you know I have been wanting purple hair for about a year now and last year in October I finally began the process of bleaching my hair and going blonde. There were many processes my hair underwent with the latest one prior to dyeing ending in an unfortunate toning incident leaving my hair grey/green in color. Not long after this I decided it was about time I committed to what I had set out to do nearly 6 months ago... Through family and a friend I heard about Arctic Fox Hair Dye and acquired the color Purple Rain and Violet Dream. I wasn't sure what purple I wanted so I bought both and decided on Purple Rain as the dominant color in my hair, I did add an accent near my 'fringe' to give some dimension. I was absolutely blown away by the color payoff!!! Pigmentation on this product is AMAZING!!!! I had bought 2 bottles of each color in the 8 oz size, thinking I would need it with my long hair. I only ended up using one bottle (with leftover) and I left it in for about an hour, because I wasn't worried about damaging my hair. The dye acted almost like a leave in conditioner on my hair and it feels gloriously smooth!! I am absolutely and irrevocably in love with this product!!! I will most likely buy all the colors! So far I've had the dye in for about 2 weeks now and it still looks great! Would highly recommend this product to anyone!!!

The picture above was taken probably a week before I dyed my hair purple using the Arctic Fox Hair Color dyes. The toner had pretty much washed out , leaving behind an ash blonde sort of color. What you cant see is the greenish mess on the underside. I had added blue pigment to the bottom portion of my hair, but when it washed out (and after bleach) a green hue remained.

Note: If you have blonde hair and are dyeing it blue, please tone the yellow out first! If you don't you will be left with green hues... The easiest way for me to grasp that was to think of the color wheel if you mix blue and yellow (blonde) you get green...
This picture was taken literally the day after dyeing my hair purple. Keep in mind that I had dyed my hair towards night time and so I didn't get to see the vibrant entity that is my hair until the next day...wowza!
This picture was taken 2 days ago nearly two weeks after dyeing my hair and the vibrancy is still there! I am very pleased with the results of this last adventure and I would highly recommend checking out Arctic Fox Hair Color, if you are thinking of dyeing your hair a zany color!

I will be doing individual reviews of the dyes in the upcoming days so stay tuned!

Hairspiration No.1~ Hair Dreams

Hello Wonderlandians,

I just wanted to share some of my hair inspiration with you. For long time I have been in love with the idea of having colored hair, and at times I have managed to insert a little bit of that in my life.

However due to whatever reason, I have not committed to actually having colored hair. By colored hair I mean colors such as: purple, green, blue, teal, and you know those fun kooky colors. I've reached a point in my life where I no longer want to feel restricted into not being able to express myself due to family, school ,work, or whatever reason. So I will be documenting my hair coloring progress on this blog through a new series I would like to call Hairspiration! Hence the title of this post.

Technically speaking this should be Hairspiration No. 3, but I decided to just leave the last couple hair posts as they are. You can find them here:

Hair Transformation~ Purple

What have I done now?

As you can see I have been wanting purple locks for quite some time now, but haven't fully committed. I swear everyone has purple hair, but me.

Here are purple haired wonders that I have been taking some hairspiration from :)
